Let’s face it, no one really likes the inevitable signs of aging.

For most women, there comes a point in our lives when we are faced with a major decision about whether to grow out our natural grey hair and embrace the freedom that comes with it. Or to continue to colour our hair because we’re just not ready to commit to our natural colour.

In the fight against grey hair, both stylists and clients alike, have relied on permanent colour to hide it. But, we think that there is a rise in body positivity, particularly in recent months, relating to embracing our natural hair colour as we age. More and more women are looking for ways to grey gracefully. Instead of completely trying to cover them up.

We’re encouraging ways to enhance our unique, natural colour and blend it as it grows out.

There is no right or wrong here. You’ve got to do what feels right to you.

If you choose, “yes I’m soooo ready to go natural grey!” We’re totally here for it! We suggest grey blending. It will help your greys to steal the spotlight in all the right ways, without breaking the bank every month. But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some work involved. Work that is soooo worth it!

It has never been more chic to do so!

What is grey blending? It is growing out your hair colour to embrace your natural grey tones with the help of professional colour technique to make the entire process smoother. This process can be done in one sitting (6-8 hours) or over the course of multiple appointments (what we suggest).

Why do we recommend professional, in salon, grey blending? For soooo many reasons! Honestly, growing out your grey hair naturally, on your own, can be emotionally taxing (in ways that people don’t really discuss). The struggle can be so real when you look in the mirror everyday to see a line of grey slowly growing out. So we would love to help you with the process! And let’s be real, we want to be there to talk about it and cheer you on along the way!

What is so so soooo beautiful about grey hair is that every single head of grey is unique. Tones of white, silver and charcoal.

Let us lay it out for you. Here are the general steps of colouring your hair to enhance your natural grey tones. It can take six to ten hours to do. And it can be a bit of a shock to do it all at once. So we suggest splitting it up into appointments. Doing it over the course of a year can work really well and you will have beautiful hair through each step of the process.

We start with a colour remover. Then we do a full head of baby highlights (leaving your roots out). We provide Botanical Repair Treatments through each appointment to keep the integrity of your hair.

There is a possibility of a second application of baby highlights that are coordinated with a darker colour weaved throughout. This is common if you have charcoal undertones. Following this there are one to two applications of toner to get your silver hair the perfect tone.

Your next visit to the salon will be within four to eight weeks. This appointment is focused on refreshing your tone. This depends on how your colour holds the tone (we recommend washing your hair with cooler water, just like with other hair colour, to extend the life of the toner).

After this you are in the home stretch! You will receive a toner as need until you no longer have any old colour left.

We will set you up with a customized hair care routine consisting of the best products for you. These will support your hair health, to keep it hydrated and strong. Which also helps to hang onto your toner colour.

The grey blending process can take up to a year to complete. If you’re looking for the fastest way possible, we recommend getting a shorter cut.

The entire grey blending process starts at $500 and goes up from there. This may sound overwhelming, but think about what you will be saving once you’re rockin’ your natural hair colour!

We think that communication is key throughout the entire grey blending process. We want to make sure we understand your goals and set the proper expectations for them concerning what we can achieve and the time it takes to do it. A consultation is also important so that we can get to know your hair and the history of colour and product that you’ve used on it. This information helps to avoid unexpected behaviour of colour and can ensure we’re tailoring the technique so that it’s best for you.

Ready to embrace your hair in it’s natural state? Go to our contact page and let us know! We would be so excited to help you along the way!
